I wish I could take her pain away, but.. alas, this is her journey. When she gets anxious, I will often say to her: “what is the truth and what is the lie”.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI find when she calls out what is true, she can then see that the lie is not a real thing, coupling that with some calming techniques - I can generally help her come back to her body and the present to think logically and come back down from the panic.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRecently, she was not with me \u0026amp; experiencing some anxiety. She called me, we chatted \u0026amp; she was okay - but feeling quite overwhelmed. My instinct was to drop everything to rescue her, but… she also told me she wanted to continue with the experience, to push through but that she was feeling overwhelmed and scared.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe talked through the feelings extensively, eventually I managed to calm her down \u0026amp; sent her off with a plan that included food and rest.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter I spoke with her, I felt so deeply for her, I knew she was growing in resilience, I knew she was safe, SHE knew she was safe, but I wished I could hug her and give her more.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI sat down, wrote this and sent it to her. It starts with “the truth is” because that’s what we find helps - focusing on what’s true.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI’m not sure if it helped her, perhaps it did because after that, she settled and ended up enjoying the experience and came home very proud of herself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI find the balance of “pushing through” with my kids so tricky, when to push and when to remove them from the situation is such a fine line - one I’m constantly learning about.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis time, I made the right choice, but in the past..
